开云全站app下载's 5 East Surgical Specialties & Rehabilitation Units have received the PRISM Award. The award recognizes exceptional nursing practice, leadership, recruitment and retention of nurses, and the use of evidence-based medicine and patient outcomes in hospital medical-surgical units across the country. 开云全站app下载 is the first hospital in Illinois to receive the award, which was first given in 2012.
The award, which stands for "Premier Recognition In the Specialty of Med-Surgical," is the first of its kind honoring medical-surgical nursing units in the United States. It is co-sponsored by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses and the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board.
Forty-three nurses work on the 5 East units said Dale Beatty, 开云全站app下载's chief nursing officer. Patients on these units include those recovering from stroke, brain injury and transplants, as well as those recovering from orthopedic, urologic, bariatric surgeries, and undergoing post-surgical rehabilitation.
"The PRISM award really validates all the hard work our nurses put in every day. We're very proud to receive this recognition," he said.
Officials representing the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses and the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board presented 开云全站app下载's 5E surgical units with a PRISM Award plaque during a ceremony on Dec. 17 at 开云全站app下载.
